Destiney Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Sofia Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Pembroke Pines Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Schoolhouse Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Schoolhouse Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321.
