Marsing and Melba are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Marsing had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt New Plymouth on Wednesday. The Huskies put the hurt on the Pilgrims with a sharp 18-11 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Teagan Kinney and Luke Steinmeyer were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Kinney didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Steinmeyer struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). What's more, Kinney posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Kinney went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Steinmeyer went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Steinmeyer also brought in four RBI, which is notable because Marsing is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Dresden Wood was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since April 1st. Jace Chadez was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Marsing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, while Melba put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Parma. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Panthers.
Mike Lester made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cooper Brooks was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Kelton Bodily, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.
Marsing has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Melba, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
Marsing took their win against Melba in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
