St. Louis and Ithaca are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Sharks will head out to take on the Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
St. Louis easily dispatched Gladwin last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Sharks fell just short of Carson City-Crystal by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Sharks have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Paige Luneack put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Halle Hoyt was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Hoyt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ithaca ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Garber by a score of 5-2.
Ivy Davenport spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Kennedi Ryan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Maeli Akin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Ithaca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Louis, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Louis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Ithaca struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Louis was able to grind out a solid win over Ithaca when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. Do the Sharks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
