El Paso is 0-10 against Canutillo since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. El Paso will be playing at home against Canutillo at 6:00 p.m.
El Paso managed to slip by Burges the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. El Paso wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Selene Acosta and Catalina Campos did some serious damage despite the final result: Acosta went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Campos scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Campos has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canutillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 11-3 win on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.
Giovanna Navarro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alina Banda, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Zoe Borjas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Canutillo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Canutillo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for El Paso, their loss dropped their record down to 8-17.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. El Paso has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Canutillo struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Paso suffered a grim 20-9 defeat to Canutillo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can El Paso avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
