Kirkwood faced Eureka in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Pioneers never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Kirkwood has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Eureka, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-12 record.

Kirkwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 defeat against St. Charles West on the 15th. As for Eureka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Howell North on the 15th.
