Castleford's defeat came about despite a quality game from Oaklee Skinner, who went 6 of 8 en route to 16 points and five boards. Skinner continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Richfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They snuck past Hansen with a 26-20 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.
Castleford better focus on containing Malia Kent and Kallee Hendren as the pair were huge in Richfield's win. Kent posted ten points and four steals, while Hendren earned seven points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lexi Holland, who put up no points and three steals.
Richfield pushed their record up to 8-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.7 points over those games. As for Castleford, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Castleford has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Richfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Castleford came up short against Richfield when the teams last played back in January, falling 38-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kent, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Now that Castleford knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
