Buena dropped their record down to 13-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Schalick Cougars. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Chiefs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Schalick, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

For Schalick's part, Luke Pokrovsky was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Pokrovsky has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Evan Glaspey was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Watts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buena will take on Vineland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Schalick, they will head out to take on Cumberland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
