The El Dorado Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against BASIS - Peoria at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. BASIS - Peoria took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on El Dorado, who comes in off a win.
El Dorado has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 32 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 89-56 victory over ASU Prep Poly at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
El Dorado got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikai Phipps out in front who scored 39 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The game was Phipps' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kamari Brown was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on 16 points, 11 assists, and 11 steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, BASIS - Peoria's good fortune finally ran out last Wednesday. They fell to BASIS - Mesa 49-44.
El Dorado's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for BASIS - Peoria, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
El Dorado barely slipped by BASIS - Peoria when the teams last played back in January, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Dorado since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
