They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Laughlin 80-53 at home. Given Lake Mead Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Laughlin is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Mead Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Cummins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Matthew Cummins jr was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 assists and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lake Mead Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Laughlin, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Mead Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Democracy Prep Agassi Campus' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Laughlin, they will be playing at home against Indian Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian Springs is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
