The Amherst County Lancers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Jefferson Forest, falling 42-7. Amherst County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Devonte Wade rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown. Omar McPherson was his top target, gaining 66 total yards.
Amherst County's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Glass (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Jefferson Forest, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amherst County will square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Jefferson Forest, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
