McMahon hasn't had much luck against St. Joseph recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Senators will square off against the Cadets at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, McMahon put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bridgeport Central with a sharp 27-5 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Senators as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Caroline Sattler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sattler was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Smith, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Maya Cassidy also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
McMahon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph got the win against Westhill on Thursday by a conclusive 13-1. The Cadets haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Adyson Magliocco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Molly Kery was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Flanagan, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
McMahon's record now sits at 4-10. As for St. Joseph, their record is now 11-3.
McMahon might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Senators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
