Rush City had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Aitkin Gobblers with a sharp 6-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kendal Pillar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Rush City let Megan Nelson and Addisyn Antonson run wild. Nelson went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Antonson went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Antonson a new career-high.
The win (which was Rush City's tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Aitkin, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-7 record.
As of now, neither Rush City nor the Gobblers have any future games scheduled.
