Brookhaven added to the longest winning streak in Columbus City - North this week by beating Beechcroft, 34-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bearcats.
Brookhaven scaled the state rankings by moving to 218 from 263 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Anthony Thornton's team climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Cougars 34-7.
Whetstone's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. RAMROTH FINNEGAN threw for 250 and 4 touchdowns and DAVID SIMMONS had 166 yards receiving. On the ground MELEK WHITE contributed 117 yards. TRENT HARPER helped Whetstone's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 34 yards.
He went 22-33 with 1 interception.
FINNEGAN put up the best numbers through the air as the Braves lost to Northland. FINNEGAN's favorite target this week was SIMMONS, who caught 12 passes for 166 yards.
Whetstone's FINNEGAN and SIMMONS have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback FINNEGAN has thrown for 1,587 yards this season, while SIMMONS has 36 catches for 642 yards. The Bearcats' David Peoples leads the league in rushing yards with 739.
A big matchup in Columbus City - North this week will be when Mifflin takes on Don Poff's team. The Punchers are currently in third, while the Braves are in fourth.
East fell to Centennial 54-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.
