The Sweetwater Red Devils had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 66-57 victory over Kearny. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Daniel Arce, who scored 27 points. Arce set a new season high mark in points with 27. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Saludares, who scored 13 points.
When it comes to explaining why Kearny lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Queen. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The contest was Queen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Cameron Ackerman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Sweetwater's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Kearny, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Sweetwater will head out on the road to face off against Preuss UCSD at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Preuss UCSD will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1206th, while Sweetwater is ranked 578th). As for Kearny, they will be playing at home against Chula Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
