Baseball Recap: Newport Has No Trouble Against Juniata

Newport barely beat Juniata the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. The Buffaloes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kevin Ruggles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Jameson Cummins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Newport has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Juniata, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4-1.
