The Christ Prep Academy Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Christ Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Christ Prep Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lathrop, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots never let the Mules get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Aidan Kent made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Christ Prep Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Kent was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Christ Prep Academy let Will Hink and Luke Neland run wild. Hink went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Neland scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Those three RBI gave Hink a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cade Elder, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.
Christ Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Barstow, falling 25-10.
Owen Smail was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Caleb Cronin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Christ Prep Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Maranatha Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Christ Prep Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Maranatha Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Christ Prep Academy keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
