The Sumner Stingrays won the last time they faced the Lennard Longhorns, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Sumner blew past Lennard 56-33. Given Sumner's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Lennard is ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sumner was led to victory by Devin Baker and Isaiah Williams. Baker scored 9 points, while Williams scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Douglas, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Sumner now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lennard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumner won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hillsborough at 6:30 p.m. on December 6th. Hillsborough has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 322 points over their last five games. Lennard won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tampa Bay Tech at 6:30 p.m. on December 6th. Hopefully Tampa Bay Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
