The Lakeside Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Glynn Academy Terrors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Lakeside pushed their score all the way to 31 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Effingham County 36-31. While losing is never fun, Lakeside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Effingham County is ranked 109th).
Despite the loss, Lakeside got a solid performance out of Ty Jones, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Mi?keal Grissom also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, Glynn Academy entered their tilt with Evans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Glynn Academy came out on top against Evans by a score of 22-14 two weeks ago.
Lakeside has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Glynn Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Lakeside has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Glynn Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 per game. How will Glynn Academy fare against such a dominant running game?
Lakeside might still be hurting after the 42-20 loss they got from Glynn Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Lakeside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
