Santa Fe has won three straight games at home, while St. Paul has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Chiefs will welcome the Swordsmen at 2:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Santa Fe 3.6, St. Paul 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Santa Fe's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on El Rancho with a sharp 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chiefs yet this season.
The result came thanks to Cassie Gonzalez's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Isabella Offield was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Sabrina Verdugo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, St. Paul hadn't done well against La Serna recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Swordsmen came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 8-4. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Robyn Guitron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Guitron was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, St. Paul got a big performance out of Sunni Vazquez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Navasu, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.
Santa Fe's win bumped their record up to 7-5-2. As for St. Paul, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Santa Fe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like St. Paul struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Santa Fe suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to St. Paul in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will the Chiefs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
