The Rio Linda Knights will face off against the Dixon Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Rio Linda's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Dixon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Monday, Rio Linda earned an 8-3 win over Sutter.
Kiera Waggoner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Liv Johnson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Roxie Alvarez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Rio Linda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sutter only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, Dixon fell victim to Destiny Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 13-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Dixon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Morris, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Rio Linda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rio Linda hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Dixon struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rio Linda might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Dixon in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
