Winning is just a little bit easier when you make six more threes than your opponent, a fact the Union Spartans proved on Tuesday. They strolled past Neuse Charter with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Union.
Leading Union to victory were Zadariyah Faison and Ariyona Spearman. Faison scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Spearman dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Faison posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Hailey King, who scored six points along with two steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayley Cochran, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Kozloff, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Union is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Neuse Charter, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Union will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Rosewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Spartans are ranked 232nd). As for Neuse Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Duplin will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
