Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for East Noble

East Noble waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Lakeland Lakers with a sharp 9-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 on Saturday.

Paige Griggs made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Griggs was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aubrey Helmkamp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bri Bortner, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

East Noble's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lakeland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Noble will take on Huntington North at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.14 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lakeland, they will take on Westview in a tournament on Tuesday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
