The Richfield Wildcats had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Canyon View by a score of 35-24 on Saturday. The win was just business as usual for Richfield, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Reggie Hafen was his usual excellent self, throwing for 271 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. Beck Giblette also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Canyon View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deegan Davies. Despite the final result, he picked up 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Richfield's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 12-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.89 points. As for Canyon View, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Richfield will take on Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manti knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Richfield likes a good challenge. Canyon View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
