The Ouray Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Nucla Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ouray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Ouray had to settle for a 34-31 loss against the Bulldogs. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ouray has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Landen Hill, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. Caleb Crandall was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Nucla came into Saturday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Sangre de Cristo by a score of 49-39 on Saturday. The victory was just what Nucla needed coming off of a 75-55 defeat in their prior contest.
This is the second loss in a row for Ouray and nudges their season record down to 6-7. As for Nucla, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Ouray was able to grind out a solid win over the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, winning 65-55. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Nucla's Brycen Rummel, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Ouray still be able to contain Rummel? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
