Having just played yesterday, the Bruce Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Palmer Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Bruce is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Bruce posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They skirted past Water Valley 52-49. The win was just what Bruce needed coming off of a 62-41 loss in their prior contest.
Bruce's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Laken Corbitt, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, and A'toria Knox, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Corbitt has scored at least a third of Bruce's points.
Palmer suffered their biggest loss since November 7, 2023 on January 9th. They were dealt a 57-8 loss at the hands of Calhoun City. While losing is never fun, Palmer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Calhoun City is ranked 54th).
Bruce's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Palmer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.
Bruce lost to Palmer on the road by a decisive 53-35 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Bruce avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
