The Spencer County Bears will head out on the road to face off against the North Oldham Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Spencer County's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Last Tuesday, everything went Spencer County's way against Western as Spencer County made off with a 69-49 win. That looming 69-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Spencer County yet this season.
Camden Cox and Luke Erhardt were among the main playmakers for Spencer County as the former shot 4-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 23 points along with five assists. The matchup was Erhardt's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Baird, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, North Oldham put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Walton-Verona by a score of 82-74. Given North Oldham's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Walton-Verona is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Spencer County back to even at 3-3. As for North Oldham, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Things could have been worse for Spencer County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-63 loss to North Oldham in their previous matchup back in February. Can Spencer County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
