The Athens Hornets will take on the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything went Athens' way against Palestine as Athens made off with a 49-28 win.
Meanwhile, Lumberton had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-21 victory over Livingston at home. With Lumberton ahead 42-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Lumberton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Powell, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Chase Williams, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Athens' victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lumberton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
