After a string of six wins, the Kamiah Kubs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Lapwai at home and fell 73-40. While losing is never fun, Kamiah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Wildcats are ranked tenth).
It was another big night for Kase Wynott, who shot 5-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds for Lapwai. Wynott is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahlius Yearout, who scored 17 points.
Kamiah's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Lapwai, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Kamiah will square off against the Loggers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Potlatch is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Lapwai, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m.
