After both having extra time off, the Towers Titans and the Hapeville Charter Hornets will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Towers' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Towers has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Elite Scholars Academy two weeks ago as Towers made off with a 80-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kevin Wynn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jalen Kelly was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, even though Miller Grove scored an imposing 61 points last Friday, Hapeville Charter still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Hapeville Charter made off with a 62-61 victory over Miller Grove. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hapeville Charter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hapeville Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keith Parker, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Goldson, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Towers pushed their record up to 6-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Hapeville Charter, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Wednesday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Towers have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 36.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Hapeville Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 31.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Towers was taken down by Hapeville Charter 80-36 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Towers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
