Springer/Maxwell put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were fully in charge, breezing past San Jon/Grady 70-34. Springer/Maxwell were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
The contest started off well for Springer/Maxwell, whose offense put up 44 first-half points. San Jon/Grady wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 27 to make it 44-27 heading into the break. Springer/Maxwell put the game away in the third quarter with 20 points from the offense and seven points allowed from the defense. The win bumped their record up to 4-2. The defeat dropped San Jon/Grady's record to 3-2.
Springer/Maxwell will take on Elida at home at 7:00 PM next week. Keep an eye on the score for this one: those two teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up. As for San Jon/Grady, they will face off against Carrizozo. San Jon/Grady have seen their point totals decreasing over the past three games, a vulnerability Carrizozo are surely hoping to exploit.
