Megan Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Caiden Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Chasko, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Liberty put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Independence a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Redhawks, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison Hanson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Hanson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Terry, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ainslee Palmer, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence didn't got any hits.
Liberty's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their record now sits at 13-9.
Memorial suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Liberty in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
