The Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones were the 60-36 winner over the Bloomington Purple Raiders when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Sacred Heart-Griffin fell to the Purple Raiders 41-37. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Sacred Heart-Griffin came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Purple Raiders are ranked 206th).
Bloomington was led to victory by Lauren Shuey and Sosi Dadekian. Shuey almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Dadekian scored 13 points along with two steals. Shuey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.
Sacred Heart-Griffin's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-10. As for Bloomington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-15 record this season.
Sacred Heart-Griffin is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Crimsons at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Bloomington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
