Softball Game Preview: Schulenburg Shorthorns vs. Louise Hornets

Schulenburg is a perfect 10-0 against Louise since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Schulenburg will challenge Louise at 6:00 p.m. Schulenburg will be strutting in after a victory while Louise will be coming in after a loss.

Schulenburg headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for five straight, but Bloomington let them put that streak behind them. Schulenburg blew past Bloomington 17-2 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Shorthorns as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Summer Livingston, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Perla Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Louise was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Moulton, falling 16-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Bobkatz: they've now lost seven in a row.

Louise's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Schulenburg, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-13-1.

Schulenburg took their win against Louise in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Schulenburg since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
