Baseball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 22-2 to the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles. If the Saints were looking for revenge after losing 11-8 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

AJ Alvarado was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Ed Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.0 runs this season.

On Rocky Mountain Lutheran's side, Gage Rabus made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Rabus was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Rocky Mountain Lutheran got a massive performance out of Noah Lile, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave Lile a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gio Delgado, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson will face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they will challenge Platte Canyon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
