The Seymour Eagles will face off against the Anderson County Mavericks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seymour is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Seymour and Morristown-Hamblen West had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Seymour fell 9-6 to Morristown-Hamblen West on Friday.
Grayson Davis` was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
At the plate, Coby Johnson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Miller Elijah was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Anderson County got themselves on the board against King's Academy on Friday, but King's Academy never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.
Not much got past Wil Ridenour, who gave up just two hits to keep King's Academy off the board. What's more, Ridenour posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Anderson County's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Bond, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was Bond's first of the season. Another was Jeremiah Owens, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Anderson County pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Seymour came up short against Anderson County when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 5-2. Will Seymour have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
