The Middlesex Bluejays were the 77-41 winner over the South River Rams when they last played one another on January 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. Middlesex fell 58-51 to the Rams on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Middlesex has scored all season.
Alex Grospe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South River, scoring 31 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Grospe has scored at least a third of South River's points. Another player making a difference was Eddie Herrera, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Middlesex's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for South River, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Middlesex will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Metuchen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. As for South River, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Chargers at 10:00 a.m. on January 27th. Spotswood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 803 points over their last 11 contests.
