8A District 11 recap October 22, 2013
Piper's Travis Liburd recorded the longest rushing play in 8A District 11 this season in his game against Douglas last week. Liburd ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 274 on the day as his team fell to the Eagles.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Deerfield Beach beat Monarch 27-24. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Bucks.
Liburd was a beast in the backfield as Piper fell to Douglas.
Jesse Barrows threw for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Brett Israel was a passing and rushing force as Willis May's team bested Roger Mitchell's team. He completed 17 passes for 204 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 72 yards. Israel's key target this week was Corey May, who caught 6 passes for 103 yards.
Barrows put up the best numbers in passing as the Bengals lost to the Eagles. Barrows' favorite target this week was Liburd, who caught 2 passes for 76 yards.
Douglas' Israel and May have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Israel has thrown for 1,207 yards this season, while May has 24 catches for 405 yards. Piper's Liburd leads the league in rushing yards with 1,176.
As it stands, the Knights are in second, while South Plantation is in third.
Taravella took down Coral Springs 56-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
