The Leakey Eagles lost against the Utopia Buffaloes back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Leakey was beaten by Utopia 63-36. Leakey was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.
Taylor Wiekamp continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Utopia, scoring 26 points along with three steals. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Smothers, who scored 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Leakey's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Utopia, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1.
Leakey will take on D'Hanis in a holiday battle at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at. D'Hanis has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Utopia will be home for the holidays to greet Comstock at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
