The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will square off against the Brighton Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Riverdale Ridge's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Boulder as they made off with a 9-0 win. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Riverdale Ridge saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeter McArthur, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Josiah Castro was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brighton earned an 11-6 victory over Boulder on Saturday.
Blake George made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hesston Edens, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aaden Tate, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Brighton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Riverdale Ridge pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Brighton, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverdale Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverdale Ridge beat Brighton 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Ravens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
