The Bastrop Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wossman Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bastrop will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Wossman is ranked 49th).
Bastrop pushed their score all the way to 36 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to General Trass 42-36. Bastrop has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Wossman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 28-0 win over Richwood. The result was nothing new for Wossman, who have now won four matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Wossman can attribute much of their success to Eric Griffin, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Bastrop's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Delhi Charter and 8-2 Carroll (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59% over those games). Wossman has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven contests, giving them a 6-1 record.
Bastrop might still be hurting after the 26-0 defeat they got from Wossman in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Bastrop have more luck at home instead of on the road?
