The Pomona Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Green Mountain at home by a decisive 46-28 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pomona of the 61-38 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Pomona lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendra Ritzmann. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 46.4% of Pomona's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Valenzuela, who scored four points.
Taylor Ellington continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Green Mountain, scoring 12 points. Another player making a difference was Julia Schafer, who scored eight points.
Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Green Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Pomona will head out on the road to square off against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Green Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alameda at 6:00 p.m.
