The Royal Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 58-51 to Simi Valley. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Royal of the 60-49 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Royal still got an impressive performance from Ace Arnold, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.1% of Royal's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Parker Hill was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Ryder Mjoen, who scored 22 points along with two steals for Simi Valley. Mjoen is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Justin Rener, who scored 15 points.
Royal has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-7 record this season. As for Simi Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Oak Park the next time they take the court. Simi Valley will head out to face Oak Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Royal will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
