Jefferson's Jovanni Lucero recorded the longest rushing play in 1A Metro this season in his game against Clear Creek last week. Lucero's team beat the Golddiggers as he sprinted for 96 yards on the play and finished with 216 in all.
Jefferson extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Clear Creek, 39-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the Anthony Rankin's team.
Dontae Deloach was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Saints topped Brian Inman's team. The 6-foot-3 senior.
Lucero was a beast in the backfield as Jefferson bested the Golddiggers.
Cameron Washburn provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Saints bested Clear Creek. He completed 7 passes for 119 yards and also ran for 134 yards. Washburn's key target this week was Lawrence Salazar, who caught 2 passes for 66 yards.
Josh Van Eps threw for 170 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was 14-20 with 1 interception.
Van Eps put up the best numbers in passing as Denver Christian defeated Nederland. Van Eps' favorite target this week was Tate Kastens, who caught 8 passes for 85 yards.
Jefferson's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Washburn has thrown for 1,086 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Salazar has 16 catches for 543 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Jefferson and Platte Canyon face off next week.
The Huskies are in third place, while the Saints are in second place.
The league will see a high scoring game when Platte Canyon and Jefferson face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Mike Schmidt's team comes in having scored 125 this season, while the Saints have scored 197. The Huskies scored 35 points last week as they topped Estes Park.
The Crusaders were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in 1A Metro. Denver Christian beat the Panthers 50-6 earlier in the week.
