Gaffney extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 6-2. They really took it to the Riverside Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-20 victory. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 28.5 points per game.
It was another big night for Banks Bouton, who rushed for 96 yards and two scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 145 yards and one touchdown while completing 90% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (162.5). As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. They haven't had much luck with Gaffney recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Riverside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gideon Merhib, who rushed for 161 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 193 yards and a pair of TDs. Keyon Knowles also helped out as he racked up 110 rushing yards.
