Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. Thomas More

12 must be St. Thomas More's lucky number: they beat St. Catherine with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Cavaliers beat the Angels by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The win was familiar territory for the Cavaliers, who have now won three games in a row.

Ethan Rudolph made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rudolph was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since April 3rd.

In other pitching news, Austin Adamczewski looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Andrew Dodge was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. St. Thomas More is undefeated when Dodge posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Mrazek, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

St. Thomas More always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Catherine's only posted an OBP of .370.

St. Thomas More's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for St. Catherine's, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

St. Thomas More didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 win against Racine Saint Catherine?s/Racine Lutheran on the 1st. Hopefully St. Catherine's paid attention to the Cavaliers' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
