Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Manogue Miners vs. Spanish Springs Cougars

The Bishop Manogue Miners will face off against the Spanish Springs Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Spanish Springs is hoping to do what McQueen couldn't on Friday: put an end to Bishop Manogue's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Bishop Manogue blew past McQueen, posting a 68-34 victory.

Liam Sorensen had an outrageously good game as he went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Benna, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Bishop Manogue was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McQueen only racked up nine assists.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Spanish Springs' strategy against Galena on Friday. Everything went Spanish Springs' way against Galena as Spanish Springs made off with a 63-37 win. The Cougars pushed the score to 49-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies had little chance of recovering from.

Bishop Manogue better keep an eye on Travis Lee. He was instrumental in Spanish Springs' win, going 6 of 10 on his way to 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Bowers, who had six points in addition to seven assists and five steals.

Spanish Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Bishop Manogue, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Bishop Manogue hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.3 points per game. However, it's not like Spanish Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 57 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Bishop Manogue skirted past Spanish Springs 60-57 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Bishop Manogue have another victory up their sleeve, or will Spanish Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
