The Lytle Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the United South Panthers at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lytle saw some tournament action on Thursday. Everything went their way against Miller as they made off with a 12-5 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.
Damien Barco made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Barco was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Lytle got a massive performance out of Piercen Moreno, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Moreno also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Travis Norton, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Lytle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, United South put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Corpus Christi Moody by a score of 5-1.
Kevin Martinez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gerardo Alvarez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
United South's record now sits at 9-0. As for Lytle, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
