The Humble Christian Cougars came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 33-29 W over School of the Woods. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Humble Christian also won the last time the pair played on January 13th.
Humble Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelly Paulk led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Paulk is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lilly McMullen, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, School of the Woods still got an impressive performance from Savannah Phan, who scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 48.3% of School of the Woods' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Humble Christian pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for School of the Woods, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Humble Christian is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Faith Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 two weeks ago. As for School of the Woods, they will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
