Ponderosa has gone a perfect 4-0 against Bear Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Ponderosa will be strutting in after a victory while Bear Creek will be coming in after a defeat.

Ponderosa's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They snuck past Golden with a 6-0 win. Those six points were actually the fewest the Mustangs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Ponderosa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Berninzoni and Logan Vigil. Ponderosa got some further help from Caden Miller: he forced one fumble and made 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Despite a strong season so far, Bear Creek has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 35-21 bruising from Heritage on Thursday. The Bears were down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Ponderosa will have to contain Riley Wilson as he made an impact in Bear Creek's last game. He rushed for 83 yards and one score, and also threw for 168 yards and a pair of TDs. Bear Creek's leading receiver Kamari May was Wilson's top target yet again, picking up 63 receiving yards, while also rushing for 43 yards.

Ponderosa's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.13 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.28 in the others. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Ponderosa against Bear Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-0 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
