After a string of four wins, the Keswick Christian Crusaders's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a hard 57-42 fall against Academy of the Holy Names. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Keswick Christian in their matchups with Academy of the Holy Names: they've now lost seven in a row.
Keswick Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Graham, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds. Graham scored a full 35.7% of Keswick Christian's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ava Ross was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Keswick Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy of the Holy Names only pulled down five.
Leading Academy of the Holy Names to victory were Lucy Morey and Grace Gavin. Morey scored 16 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds, while Gavin scored 26 points. The match was Morey's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Hunt, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds.
Keswick Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Academy of the Holy Names, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Keswick Christian will head out on the road to face off against Tampa Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Academy of the Holy Names, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tampa Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tampa Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Academy of the Holy Names is ranked 30th).
